Good to know. I wonder if balancing the rear is just a happy side effect of that then

Not sure. And TBH, I may be wrong or at lease half right. A better place to ask is the LT thread.

Ah... jumping. That makes sense. I bet the bearings still take a beating though

Weight on the axle is unsprung weight, so it really doesn't "balance" the rear in the way you are thinking

Adds unsprung weight to the axle too, better traction with the extra weight. Like Chris said, hitting trails hard, bumping, jumping, won't bend the axle. Stronger along the length.

Just a little bit. You notice it better when the weight is in your bed even both ways shift your weight distribution to the rear. Plus with a heavy axle you want some weight in the bed to make shock tuning better.

Thanks for the jinx @j0shu4 my turbo started pissing oil out of the compressor seals this weekend, lol.

Shit! I didn't do it. Sucks man. Can you just replace the seals? Also try tightening up the bolts.

I think I found out mine was the turbo blanket I had wrapped around it. It smelt like oil to me, but I think that fire retardant material was SLOWLY burning away. I took it off and no smoke so far. It was black on part of the inside. I think those blankets are a waste now. Deleted my PCV valve too. Gonna run seafoam and clean up the pcv exhaust area too.

It was embarrassing while it was cookin but it really does keep the heat down in the engine bay. I blew an ignition coil because the wire got cooked on the downpipe, but that wrap and blanket really did help to keep that from happening again

They all smoke at first. Just part of the break in process. My turbo jacket smoked pretty good at first too.

Yeah, it did initially and went away. It's been good for 6 months and now the inside of it is fraying away and a corner is starting to brown. No bueno.

Guys, this T100 axle is so much work. But I'm doing it right and is going to come out great. Lots of sanding and painting. To get inside of the truss i put a bunch of paint in it and moved it in all directions to get a good coat. Applied rust primer (oil based) over everything, now oil based flat black. All new bearings and seals. Clean up the axles really nice. Used 400 grit paper on the areas that contact seals or bearings to get them nice and shiny. 4.88s and ARB standing by.

Not super bad. Think I have about 2.5k into it with disc brakes, arb, 4.88, truss, which isn't bad considering 4.5k for a similar currie or whoever. Granted those are the best axles but I can't drop $4500 on an axle. This should hold up well for what I do. Would have been less but I don't know how to space/backlash gears so I had to pay a shop do it.

Hey guys, I'm starting the rear LT of my truck tomorrow. I need any info you can and or pictures would help too. F67 pack, triple bypass kings, 12" shackle, t100 trussed axle. My main concerns are:

    1. Exactly where I need to mount the front spring hangers

    2. Then is 52.5" from center of hanger eyelet. But is it to the shake hanger eyelet, or to the shake hanging? My guess would be to the hanger (above frame).

    3. Best way to set my pinion angle on the axle

    4. Being a t100 3rd member, does it need to go back a hair or will the slip yoke accommodate

    5. What should I do first after the springs are hung? Axle, shocks tacked to axle, upper shock location mount to cage, then cage?

Got the next five days. Please let me know if I'll need anything or any info you can shoot my way. Front LT is holding up fine but this is a whole different animal. And I mean ANIMAL. LOL.
