I've heard of that happening in Mexico. Any idea where the truck was?

I don't understand why it's bad to steal stuff off the car (except personal items). The thing is clearly totaled. It just going to be sent off to the junk yard or Toyota might buy it back for research. Either way, removing parts is just freebies. They have no value on the vehicle because it will be melted down. Some Tacoma owners might benefit off some parts like fog lights...

Been there twice, pretty rough in spots, some potentially hazardous cliffs, nothing too hard obstacle wise, a rocks throw from the mexican border

You are a bad person and you should feel bad. Whether the truck belongs to the owner or the insurance company, it is not your property

Because they still belong to the owner of the vehicle and if he gets a new truck or decides to sell the parts individually he can make a profit or break even. Regardless he is still the owner of the truck to totaled or not.

You'd be picking lead out of your ass if I caught you stealing parts from my truck, wreck or not. Don't think you'll get caught stealing? Then I wont get caught either.
