Looking to replace my OEM headlight bulbs with something brighter. I don't mind paying for brighter high quality bulbs that last. I've tried Silverstars a couple times on my previous vehicle and they were bright but they burned out really fast and to me were a waste. Would love to here some feedback on what's popular here.

Forget any thought of HID's, if anything go LED....

side note: I don't get why some feel the OEM lights aren't enough, ya'll never had to deal with low visibility sealed beams...

OE lights are more than adequate for well traveled streets/hwys.

If you are driving uber rural or offroad, (no ambient light, no oncoming traffic) various forms of auxillary lights, specific to your application, are a great solution.

Driving in both city and very dark rural roads environments and I'm not looking to be "the jerk with the really annoying insanely bright low beam headlights". Just looking king for a better and slightly brighter alternative.

i feel old now but back when options auto salon was open, (they may still be) you could get JDM bulbs from legit manufacturers from overseas.

Raybrig Lights were my go to bulb. pure white, never overheated the harness, just a clean white light.

IDK what happened to them. cant find them anymore. but i havent tried very hard looking.

Oh i get that & didn't mean to imply you being a jerk, there's no bigger pisser & moaner than I in regards to stupidly bright lights, I found that the LED's although bright, don't seem to have the blinding glare or fragmentation like HID's, & def more reliable than HID

I love adequate lighting. Any vehicle I've had with 7" round fixtures always got treated to CIBIEs or Hella euro cut lights. Neither DOT legal, but neither would ever blind anyone on low beam due to their excellent cut off characteristics.

If I was in an area where more light was better, like I was in rural N Florida, I'd be researching light bars or some driving light arrangement.

In other words, auxiliary lighting, not futzing with the OE lamps.

Those Philips H4 LEDs are rated at 1250 lumens.

These Osram H4s 85w Halogens are rated at 2400 lumens:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-not-led-or-hid.398066/

However the 85w Osrams will likely only last about a year, it is the tax of the high wattage bulb.

Best bet for increased light output and long lasting bulb would be to run a standalone harness as referenced in my thread and go with the Osram 70w bulbs instead of the 85w version. The 70w version is rated at 2000 lumens and lasts considerably longer.

I want to stay 100% DOT legal for roadway use. I'll use auxiliary lighting for off road use.

I saw the "ultimate headlight upgrade" thread. Pretty cool, and would probably be great, but hoping to not have to add an aftermarket harness.

Your only option to be DOT legal is 55/60w standard halogens. The best way to get greater performance out of those bulbs will be a standalone harness. Whether that is worth it is up to you. Otherwise aux lights will be your best bet.

You don't need brighter lights, just use the force Luke.
