Hey guys, how's everybody doing? I wanted to do this trip last year but I wasn't able to make it. This year is already coming around. I'm extremely interested but have some concerns. Been having some vibration issues. I changed all u-joints, carrier bearing and even balanced the drive shaft. Still vibrating. Starting to play with the angle, dropping the driveshaft 1/4" at a time. I already have a 1" spacer. This is the only thing holding me back. I have a 09 tacoma 4x4 offroad, 6" procomp lift on 35" tires. I'm wondering if my height might (top heavy) be an issue and clearance with the fenders. This will be my first time out there plus I'm driving from Miami. Plan on meeting up my boy in his fj in Colorado. Im debating on bringing my side-by-side also. What do you guys think, recommend?

^^ @livelifetolive Your truck would do fine in Moab. You just need to watch your approach and travel with some skilled spotters. In regards to your vibration, have you tried swapping tires with someone that has an AT tire to see if that gets rid of the vib? The lugs on those Nittos could be the problem. Also have checked all wheels to make sure one is not bent?

COME ON OUT. there's plenty of trails that you can cut your teeth on. some a stock Tacoma can run... to those you need a buggy. bring out your side by side as that can open up the area A LOT for places you can't/don't want to take your truck...

Thanks. I've had the truck for awhile and with those tires since I bought the truck. Didn't have vibration until recently. Started little by little. Changed the carrier bearing. During the same time change the front and middle u-joints. I went aftermarket. Continued to still have vibration. Got worse fast to the point it snapped the front u-joint which i had just changed. Changed the front u-joint and the rear(oem). Still vibrating. We then balanced the drive shaft. It feels better, but still vibrating on slow acceleration 20-40. Gets real bad if i don't let off. Shudders between 50-70 when i let off and accelerate again. My next step is to check the drive shaft angle.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I finally got around to replacing my bent rear shaft, went ahead and had the whole thing rebuilt. Felt great for a day, then vibes. Figured it was my MTs, which were wearing down a little unevenly.
Got under the truck to do some various maintenance, noticed a bare spot on my DS, where the rest of the shaft was new black paint. Turns out the goober who welded on the weight couldn't tell the difference between a proper weld and an cheddarwurst, and the weight was thrown off. Rebalanced it, had the weights welded on *correctly,* and all is good now.
Inspect your DS for possibly thrown weights, evidenced by an obvious spot of bare metal with two little pimples on opposite sides of that bare spot.

I want to say we or they did but it seems like they didn't. The issue im having is most local shop, most shops here are, we'll lift your and add accessories and that's it. Much more than that they don't know. Than right now. Jeep beach is next weekend so everyone had been swamped with that, that they don't have time to find and repair and actual issue. They want to make sure everything is "pretty" for Jeep beach.

Taco shafts are indexed, and can be put back together only two ways: correct, and 180* to correct.
