Also got to do a little mountain biking with my brother. We used the runner to shuttle to the top of the mountain for a nice 5k foot decent.20150803_123154.jpg

It's a fun little out and back trail that ends at the river and a few nice camp spots. Let me know when you want to run it! I'd be up for running it again.

So I have had a little warped feeling in the rotors for oh, about the last year. I finally decided to change a few things up so I bought new 5th gen calipers all the way around and new 5th gen power slot rotors for the front end. Got it all buttoned up last night and it brakes very well. So well my wife was almost convinced that we were going to do an endo while bedding the brakes. Best part, no more warped feeling!

Its been a while since I have posted any updates on here but here they are.

Bought a CVT Mt Shasta during one of the group buys a little while back. Its awesome. Mounted it up on the wife's Tacoma for its inaugural camping trip up by Taylor Park and Crested Butte. I'll be mounting it up on the 4Runner first excuse I get

The Runner finally rolled over the big 100,000 on my way to work the other day. Its like my trucks birthday, how could you miss that photo op???

And last, finally built mounts to mount up my 22in light bar. The additional light is awesome but I'm worried it might snowball into a phobia of the dark involving hundreds of LEDs in the quest of constant daylight like some of you guys on here  haha.

Looks great, you two have an awesome pair of trucks.

Stay away from the light craze, IMO not really worth lighting up the world, and how often is it really of any benefit?

Thanks man. This is true. If you could use them on the road or wide open in the desert its worth it but with most the passes out here the speedometer tends not to climb very much at night. At most I think I'll do a couple alley lights to help with setting up camp in the dark and one on the rear to aid backing up.

Lights like that are really the most beneficial I have found, I have a 6" BlitzPro on my swing out as a backup light that is great for camping, you can swing it around to easily adjust it too. I have another one not wired up yet, not sure if I want duals off the back or put the other one off the side or something.

Yeah I'm kicking around the idea of putting a telescoping pole with a light or two on it on the swing out. Like you said, that's usually the place its most needed anyway. It's even better if you can swivel it to where you need it. Now I just need to get to building that swing out and bumper before next wheeling season. ...

Thanks! They are awesome trucks and can be had a little more reasonably than the tacomas usually, and if you're lucky you can find a V8 :).

Great T4R Build! I need one of those tire carriers bad. If you build one I'll buy it.

Thanks man! As far as the tire carrier, I'm not sure when I'll have time to build another but I'd consider parting with the one I have.

Been a while since I updated this. I have been working to much to have much time to work on the Runner. I did do a Cobra 75wx CB instal but have yet to actually use it. The Runner did get graduated to Tow Pig status since we acquired a new toy. It doesn't pull like the Cummins did but it does the job. That did drive the need to add a B&M tranny cooler and do a tranny flush. The stock one did ok but I wanted to see if I could keep the temps down a little more since 95% of the time Ill be towing in the mountains. So far I'm not sure I can tell a difference but I will be able to tell more when I run the same route I did stock.

This weekend we decided to take a little camping trip to the mountains even with the impending winter storm.
    Getting all set up.

It was a beautiful 65 degree Thursday afternoon when we got out to Rule Ridge and found our camp spot. We got the camp spot all situated and set out to explorer some of the trails. I hadn't had the chance to explorer around Rule Ridge but there are quite a bit of fun trails around there, and one (717) that we kept seeing no matter where we rode. 717 is an incredibly long trail, and dirt bike only trail unfortunately so yes, I will be bringing my dirt bike next time to give that a try.

We actually got to play quite a bit and explore the trails around Rule Ridge Thursday and the first part of Friday. My buddy managed to break away from work early and set up camp a couple hours before the snow started coming down. We ended up riding the rest of the evening to come back to a decent amount of snow on the ground.

The pups had fun for the first couple hours, until they realised it wasn't going to warm up any time soon...
So we did what anyone would do and started a fire, bust out some beer and whisky, and smoked some ribs. The snow kept coming down and the winds kept blasting the rest of the night. We ended up insulating the inside of the CVT with some poncho liners and moving blankets which made for a really warm night despite 35 mph winds, continuous snow, and 20 degree temps. We woke up Saturday morning to this....
And it just kept getting worse. We had planned to ride some more but with a foot of snow on the ground and more on the way we decided to pack up camp and head home. It was a long ride home to say the least. My buddy and I both slid through a pure ice intersection in Woodland Park on the way home. Once we dropped in elevation back to Colorado Springs the roads were much better. Thought I was home free until we got back out east of the springs, where it was white out conditions and 60 + mph winds which literally blew the truck and trailer sideways on the ice. I literally spent the last 3 miles with the truck and trailer sliding at a 30 degree angle to the road I was trying to drive straight down.

The wife was less than thrilled, at least until we pulled into the driveway. Can't wait for the next trip, maybe without the snow and ridiculous wind.

Wow, quote the adventure. I have driven with a trailer like that up in Wyoming where I could see it out of the passenger window, not fun.

Yeah I could do without pulling a trailer in that crap ever again. Guess you have to pay to play though.
