Which illumination circuit is best?

Recently installed heated seats in my 3rd gen. The switches illuminate with turning on the headlights and each need a 5amp circuit to illuminate. I was wiped out after a full day of disassembly of the dash and seats and wiring and found it easiest at that time to tap into the tail light fuse with a fuse tap. I tied both switches together and used a 10amp fuse to power the illumination of the switches.

However, I like my interior light somewhat dim and the seat heater switches glow at full power while tied to the tail lights. Does anyone have any suggestions where best to tap, ideally on the fuse box, for interior illumination vs tail light illumination?

I checked the bed light plug with a meter and found that the green wire gave 12v to the switch when lights are turned on. I tried a quick tap of that line but it didn't work - probably didn't provide sufficient amperage.

    Thanks

do you have a wiring diagram for the heated switch?

I do not. However, there are 4 leads: 12v constant-10 amp, 12v ignition on-5 amp, illumination-5amp and ground (these are for each seat - double for both seats). The Ignition ON circuit fires an 87 relay when the switch is flipped. There is a 5-prong relay that handles hi/lo voltage.

since everything shares a common ground wire, you can't easily isolate the lighting circuit to be dimmable. this would require modifying the switches. if by some miracle, the lights in the switches are little bulbs instead of LEDs. you might be able reduce the voltage supplied to the illumination wire to dim the lights. no guarantees on that one though.
