Why are you guys waiting for the 5000 mile service? Turn around and get back to the dealership!

Coz I'm at 4500 miles and taking it next week ... I didn't really start noticing any of this stuff until recently, and honestly it's very minor on my truck. It really doesn't bother me, but I just want it documented in case there is a problem later on.

How many miles do you guys have on your truck in 4wd? I've probably got 4-500 on mine exclusively in 4wd. I've also changed the diff fluids with redline 75w85. I don't have any of the problems mentioned by the OP. so maybe the front diff is just tight until used a little

About 1400 in 2WD and 0 in 4WD, so we'll see what happens when I am able to put some 4WD miles on the truck.

Yeah, I just started to get clunking when breaking at parking lot speeds and turning...add that to the front diff needle bearing issue (I think?) that Toyota haven't fixed yet.

Can you try the zip tie remedy mentioned in the above post and then re-road test your truck ?

I am still trying to figure out how a zip tie stops the shudder ?
That front drive-shaft is basically in neutral when you guys are in 2 wheel drive

Its such a short driveshaft .There is no way that it would cause a vibration but a bind up shudder is possible .
If a zip tie actually fixes the rumble strip feeling while slowing down , something is turning that shouldnt be .
Leave the drive shaft on for now but zip tie it to hold it stationary as a test .
Everybody that has this issue needs to use up a couple zip ties .
Once we know if the zip tie works , we can either continue to diagnose or figure out whats going on with the front driveshaft

Maybe the symptom; not the cause.

So how does that zip tie handle the drive shaft rotation?

It was mentioned previously, but once 4wd is engaged the zip ties will snap off like a twig. This is just to minimize the vibes while in 2wd.

Ahh, hopefully this band aid solution will lead someone to the actual cause.
