You could cut some sheet metal out or hammer it down.... Could always weld a drop section in

i was simply taking 2 10s sealed on the same power as 1 8 ported keeping everything equal with the 8 at the bottom under the seat.

If we would to compare a 8 like the x8 and if it was possible to make it fit behind the seat with = power ported, I'm all for ported! But... with this situation, a regular 8 ported under the seat is going to be problematic as the box is not smooth, the box is very odd shaped. What I'm saying is a ported box of equal size behind the seat will sound better and perform better behind the seat than under the seat

It would have to be a tiny sub. There isn't much room from the floor to the seat and cutting a hole in it would require extra reinforcement for the seat brackets. That area isn't very strong.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
I'd love to get some further info on this, as far as build specs and if the seat is still functional

Justin, did you cut the metal under the seat, or just make the mdf to fit over the shape?

I ended up cutting it. It was a nightmare trying to fit it without cutting it.

^Tis true. The bin area is a pain to work with because the geometry down there is VERY odd. Glad to see more people joining the club!

So are yall having to do any modification to the bottom of the seats to get the subs to clear at full excursion? How much room is there between the bottom of the seat and the top of the box when the seat is closed?

So i don't think i can join this club because all of my subs are behind my seats. But i am interested in installing some of those 8's under my rear seats. I just want more bass and i don't want to do a bandpass box and cut a hole in my bed. I currently have 3 10 inch kicker c10 competition shallow dish subwoofers behind the seats. So do yall recommend the 8's under the seats?

OP, if you mentioned it I missed it. What was your opinion of the Tang Bands? I think I read that you changed them because of lack of available space for a port? What was the issue with them sealed? I'm thinking of sticking a couple of them in the rear stock spots of my '03 xcab to replace a single 8, but if they have some sort of fatal flaw....

The Tang Bands are very nice drivers. However, just shy of 1cubic foot wasn't near enough airspace for a ported box. They'd have been fine sealed though. I'd suggest doing two of the 8" version under the seats if the depth is sufficient (I think it is).

Any chance that someone has tried an L7 8" in the under seat storage of a double cab?

Should work as long as it's not too deep. And I believe someone did try Kicker subs down there. Type-R Alpines would be my choice if I were going with something mainstream. I believe their depth was perfect for the area. Never looked into Kickers much though.

Not sure how I just now came across this but I've thought of adding a system underneath but never saw a good build. Might have missed it but where in Dallas are you?

image.jpg I've ran kicker for almost 18 years. At this point it's habit lol. This is from their product specs. Can anyone with experience building a box in that space confirm whether this will work?

I'm up almost by Plano but it's still Dallas where I am. I'll be at the Tacoma meet happening at Katy Trail OUTPOST in Plano on August 20th if you want to see the system.
Specs suggest they will work, both from a depth and a volume perspective.
