cleaning air filter?

I have a Volant CAI. The filter needs to be cleaned and oiled. I have a K&N air filter cleaner kit (my bike has a K&N air filter). Can I use the K&N recharge kit on my volant air filter. I'm assuming it's basically the same kit that Volant sells, except for the different color dye in the oil. Can anyone confirm?
