I've been wanting a Tacoma for about 4 years now. I grew up driving old Ford work trucks (family business), owned a Suburban for several years (second best vehicle I've owned) but have had mostly passenger cars myself. We're finally at the point where we have cash for a used truck, and the ONLY option was a Tacoma. I live in the Salt Lake area, and there's just so much to see in the backcountry (from hiking the Wave a week ago to fishing trips in the High Uintas, this is the place...). Borrowing friends' 4x4's has worked over the years, but I'm excited to have my own transport finally.

I have an offer in on a '10 4-dr TRD Off Road; we're meeting at the bank today to pay off the owner's loan so I get the title. If that goes well, she's mine. First customization planned: my brother-in-law has a local business dipping vehicles, and I'm thinking about dipping it burnt copper with black accents. PO put custom rims on with larger tires (not sure the actual size) but otherwise this baby is pure stock - I consider it a blank canvas. ;) Before that, I'm doing the standard tune-up stuff (new plugs, oil change, air filter change, etc.), and giving it a serious detail (I'm kinda sticky about how my cars look - inside and out).

Photos in a couple days, I hope.

And... She is mine. Photos tomorow. Spent the evening pulling out my 2m amateur radio from my Accord (always looked a little funny with the antenna on the trunk) and cleaning out my stuff. Gonna list the Accord tomorrow hopefully, she should sell quickly.

As for the Taco: silver TRD Off-road, with step rails and a front skid plate. 130k miles, runs smooth. Locking soft cover, with the electronic tailgate lock add-on. PO lost one of the fobs, so I have two keys and one fob. Erg.

Nice truck so far. I'm a little miffed at the lack of storage space in the vehicle itself, I'm going to have to de-dupe items between my first aid kit and my highway breakdown kit. Other than that, comfy, powerful, and so nice to be back in a truck!

    Like I said, photos tomorrow.

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks. And now it's for real - I own the truck. Here are some photos.

nice truck! I know of a fella who has those exact wheels on an FJ, and the area around where the lug nut is gets scratched up reeeeaaaalllll easy when they use an impact to get the lug nuts off. You need to request anyone who is removing your lugs to use the padded lug nut sockets
