Our Field Technical Specialist inspected the vehicle during the most recent visit. The concern has been deemed a characteristic of the vehicle. They did send in a technical report to Toyota to document the concern with Toyota Headquarters technical department. This makes them aware that consumers are unsatisfied with the function of the vehicle for improvements in the future.

At this time, Toyota has made the decision to deny your request for repurchase/replacement through the Lemon Law process. A letter will be sent out by our office on behalf of Toyota Motor Sales.

I guess either my truck doesnt have it or I dont feel it. What is the vibration when does it happen and what does it feel like? What location can it be felt?

Does anyone else get it intermittently?

I test drove an SR5, no rumble during the whole test.

Drove my SR off the lot and got a slight rumble when I got to the first stoplight, thought "oh f*ck" but then it didn't happen again for the rest of the drive home.

I get it every time between approx 15 - 25 mph. Is it true that it is due to front drive shaft spinning when 4wd not engaged? It's subjective, but seems somewhat faint on mine.

Welp, both of the Tacos that I drove were 2x4 soooo, that sort of eliminates anything related to front drive shafts. :bananadead:

I bitch and moan about my transmission issues and lack of Toyota customer serve, but have never experienced the rumble strip' thing when slowing down.

My truck vibrates in the 15-25mph range, and is extremely noticeable during braking.

I believe it's due to rear drive shaft angles.

Since Toyota is playing the same old "it's normal" card, I guess it's up to us to fix it.

I'll remove the rear drive shaft one day, and test drive in FWD and report back the results. If vibes are gone, at least we narrowed down the source.

I'd be curious as to what a driveshaft shop would have to say about your driveshaft. Everyone I've ever talked to says balancing is done after the u joints are properly lubed. We know that's not happening, so...

I'd advise, make sure your u joints are gtg before messing with angles. Remember to check side to side angles; seems most only worry about up and down. I'd also be concerned with how much the carrier bearing jogs over under load.

Quick update: I've isolated the vibration I felt to the road conditions. Went to the same stoplight outside the dealer, felt the vibration, realized it was some rough pothole repair ruts in the area where I started braking. Put another ~60ish miles on the truck, no more incidents.

TL;DR It does not appear to affect 2WD models. Hope this helps!

I swear this forum has been nothing but people trying to find something to complain about.
driveshaft no grease. ok fill it done, Trans fluid was low get it checked and topped off. nothing broke ok cool done
Ubolts not fully tqrd down. trqd them down fixed.
I saw another thread something now crying about the lower clear film on the front of the flares on the bed has some air. Well with the way they apply that thick coating on the bottom its going to be hard to make that film perfect with all the bumps and valleys. This whole vibration thing I think is so blown out of proportion. Yes I feel it a little but my truck has never not stopped or even gave the indication its not going to. it has a truck suspension and not expecting a lexus ride. So far I have only seen a few things I would call a major problem. The one truck went to limp mode towing, oil leak from PS pump, and a few others. Majority of the other things are minor items that are not that big of a deal. get them taken care of and be done. Yea the transmission shifting kinda sucks but just wait for a hopeful reflash to smooth it out. I cant see pulling a lemon law and forcing dealer to buy back for some slight vibration that seems to have been around since last gen and none of those trucks exploded because of it

Didn't someone say they changed out their leaf springs and pads to get rid of this??

I don't have the issue at all FYI.
