What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Finished installing leds all around, last night was the bed lights, and 400W anytime mod

I drilled small holes and ran the power behind the end caps for the bed rails so there is no visible wiring

 

It's saved both my ass and my wallet so many times

 

Step one: research how to weld
Step two: buy a welder and gear
Step three: practice until you're confident

 

3 inch lift. 17inch elite 8 mk6 Bronze rims with -12mm offset. 285/70/17 goodride A/t tires. No rubbing!!! Thank God only had to take off mudflaps.

 

Or check around at your local vocational school or adult ed classes. It is a great way to learn, practice and figure out if you really want to get into welding before you spend lots of money.

 

Changed out my front and rear differential oil and did the rear diff breather mod.




These are the magnets. Had a pretty good amount of shavings on them (more like a blob). Truck has 24k miles on her. Was going to do the engine oil and transfer case but my dumbass let the socket slip off the transfer case filler bolt and my finger slammed right into the corner of an exhaust flange and sliced it up pretty good. Called it a day and will finish the jobs another time.

Step Three: practice until you no longer have to grind your welds to make them pretty.

Dad taught me too weld when I was 18/19. Learned the hard way. Never welded again. LoL

 

I always find it funny that I know exactly what I'm doing, without actually knowing what I'm doing. I've stuck a lot of metal together and never had an issue.

 

Yeah I stuck metal together. It just looked horrible. LoL

 

If you can weld two pieces of scrap together and hit it til its either flat or at a 90, then you're doing good.

 

Practice makes all the difference

A good welder to start with really helps too!!!

 

What welder do you recommend for somebody learning how to weld? & that be able to weld bumpers together?

 

Just lots of "elbow grease"! Cleaning up after a 2k trip with lots of mud and brush.....outside is pretty much done (left the pinstripes as they are mild and simply waxed it).....now on to the inside and the engine bay...besides mud there was a lot of dust.
