started noticing a slight thunk noise from take off. Coming from rear of truck. Changed rear diff fluid and found no evidence of shavings. U joints look good (I lube them every 3000 with oil change). Noise will go away once truck is warm. Could this be a case of axel wrap?

    I'd say axle wrap.

I have felt axle wrap many times, but I've never heard it make a noise. Are you hammering the skinny pedal? I'd guess it's auto trans shifting into gear off the line. When trans warms up and splashes fluid around, the sound is going away. Axle wrap wouldn't "warm up" and go away - it would be there at every take off. Just my guess...

Would you describe the sound as a 'Thunk' or more of a 'Clunk'?

Nope don't hammer the hammer pedal to often. The sound is definitely coming from rear of truck. I am getting the new 4 pack leafs in a week from the recall, suspecting they will be the same garbage that came on the truck. The sound is clunk, clunk clunk and goes away when I get to 10+ mph.
