Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit a grab bar on the front passenger side above the door? Similar to the ones above the back seat doors.

Our tundra has one by the passenger door and my wife uses it quite frequently when we are out on the forest roads.
The tacoma only has the one on the A pillar. She really can't stand the A pillar grab bar for stability.

Best case scenario is that there are tacomas out there with such a grab bar making a retrofit easy. Are there? Or are all 2nd gens made without such a bar?

I'll add some photos later to illustrate what I need and where.

    Thanks

    You're saying above the door?

    Yes above the door.

Here is a bad photo of the one on the tundra. I'm sitting in it on lunch and the lighting won't let me take a decent view.

Not possible on an unmodified Tacoma, and like it has been said, the curtain airbags are running in those areas. I know on 96-02 4Runners for example, you used to be able to do this because Toyota did in fact have mounting points on the driver side since in Japan and other RHD places, this is where the passenger would be, but this is not the case for 2nd gen Tacomas. I wouldn't even try to add one either seeing as if it screwed with your airbag deployment, the other persons insurance would just eat that up if they found out.

I'm sure you could rig up something yourself but most of the plastic trim pieces and such in and around the door area aren't really "solid" mounting points. Maybe a paracord grab handle off the passenger seat headrest bars???

Seems like side steps or rock sliders would be a better answer if you don't already have them.
