So I promised some pics of the Trail Boss glasses I ordered a while back but I wanted to do a review as well (this was not solicited by Nvision). To be accurate (and fair), I needed to really test them out so here is my review after about 2-3 weeks of use. I will be comparing them to my old Oakley "Fives Squared" glasses.

We will begin with the packaging, which was great. Unfortunately no pics of the initial opening but I was very impressed. I was also very surprised that $50 glasses not only came with a sticker, but three stickers, and rather large ones at that, as well as a few packs of mini glow sticks which I thought was a nice touch (I didn't include the mini glow sticks in the pic as I have those packed away in my "survival" kit ). Not all vendors are so nice.

    And the Oakley's for comparison:

I will try to keep this review/comparison short and sweet and straight to the point. Ill include some subjective remarks but I'm trying to keep it as objective as possible. Categories will include styling (how good they look), overall quality of lens and frames, effectiveness of blocking out the sunlight, comfort, and overall value.

Nvision Trail Boss Crystal Black Polarized: $49.95 retail
    vs
Oakley Fives Squared Grey Polarized: $140 retail. - Mine were marginally cheaper from the Standard Issue sight for military and law enforcement

-Styling: The Nvision Trail Boss wins here but only slightly. Its hard to be objective here but I feel the Trail Boss glasses are more elegant, simple, and clean. The Oakley Five Squared, while on the conservative side for Oakley, I feel are tailored to the younger crowed. I will say this; at a job interview, the Trail Boss glasses go very nicely with a suit (the Oakley's look tacky)!

-Quality: This one is hard. For lenses I'm edging towards the Oakley's as they integrate their polarization into their lenses as opposed to what appears to be a polarized coating on the Trail Boss (please correct me if I'm wrong). Both frames are stout but I like the feel of the Trail Boss frames better (subjectively), however objectively, I don't see an advantage for either pair of glasses.

-Effectiveness: This one is hard and I'll have to say its a tie. On tint, the Trail Boss has a slightly darker tint so they perform better on bright days, but I prefer the Oakley's on overcast days. Of note, the Oakley's have more, and I feel better options for different lenses (Nvision has only one option for polarized lenses). On peripheral vision, it's a toss up. While the Oakley's shade your peripheral vision better from side glare (almost %100), they feel like looking through window frames and cut your peripheral vision a little short. The Trail Boss has a much more un-obstructed view, but they don't protect against side glare as well (~%80-90).

-Comfort: This one, subjectively goes to Oakley, but objectively, the Trail Boss might be the better choice depending on your needs. The Oakley's tend to "float" on your face with little to no pressure points. The Trail Boss's have distinct pressure points on the nose and behind the ears. While I have gotten used to it, it was a little annoying at first. Objectively though, the Trail Boss's tend to stick to your face much better. I hate running with the Oakley's as I'm constantly pushing them up my nose. The Trail Boss's stayed in place throughout a 10 mile run, sweat and all. They also stand off your face enough that sweat doesn't drip down the lens, unlike the Oakley's. For a more active life style, the Trail Boss wins but for overall comfort, the Oakley's come out on top.

-Overall Value: Hands down the winner is Nvision. While the above categories didn't provide any clear winners, when you compare the price, its pretty evident that the Nvision glasses give you more for less. Even with my military discount, which was substantial, Oakley can't compete.

Nvision gets my official internet award of excellence! Just print it out and fill it in :D

Thanks Nvision for a great product at an awesome price. I look forward to trying out a pair of Sliders later this summer!

Yeah man, I'm liking these glasses more and more each day. At $50 I bought them to be my "scrub" glasses but now I like them better than my Oakley's. My Oakley's are now my "scrubs"
