Looking at getting some new tires soon and was going to either get the bfg t/a ko2 or the toyo AT2. But was wondering what each tires snow performance is like? I know both should be good on pavement and dirt and mud but snow wich is better?

Don't waste your time and money on the Dunlops AT 20's .No reason in the world you should put a B B rated tire on your truck. Only A A's or A B rated tires belong on these trucks. This way you get great traction and thread wear. I put Mickey Thompson STZ's on my truck. A Little noisy but so far great in the mud. Waiting for spring to put m
Mickey T wheels on. Offset is a little tricky but that's what spacers are for. The BF ko2's good all around tire. Lots of friends have em...
Gonna set you back a bit but worth it.

If you got Mickey T's for 90 each installed you did very well.

I had the General AT2's on my cherokee, best tires ever, based on other AT/MT tires I have had, general grabbers red letters on my 09 Tacoma and Good Year wranglers MT on my jeep wrangler.
The AT2 are far the best based on durability, how they age and rain.
Im really thinking of going for the AT2's on my new tacoma.
The red letters start getting rough and vibrations all over as they get older, I dont know if that was due to my tacoma not wearing the tire even or what.
I noticed riding on dirt and then pavement while having the red letters, some knobs where touching the pavement other not some knobs where clean du to friction with pavement others still with dirt!!!
When I traded in my truck sales guy offered me if I wanted to exchange tires, I said no, even dough tires where less than year old.
    bottom line good luck

I'm having trouble finding any tires NOT load E in the size 285-70-17 or 295-70-17. Does anyone know of a decent all terrain tire in these sizes that are Load D or C? Appreciate any help.

No One get mad I have been searching for the answer and even asked a tire shop. My truck is at a body shop or I would try an experiment on my own. I want to rotate in my spare so it wears the same. Obviously the stock wheel for the spare does not match. Does anyone know if I by the Tacoma wheel and have the tire mounted if it will be able to be held up under the bed?

First rock slice you get through your tread, you will be asking yourself why didn't I get the 10-plys. It happened to me.

Any thoughts on the Falken AT3W tires? From what I've read, good reviews. E rated, but about 55lbs which is what my 265 tires are right now. So I could increase size without gaining weight. About $175 a tire, which is better than most every other tire I've seen.

If anyone cares I thought I would give a quick update on the newer BFG KO2. I finally got to pick my truck up from the body shop today and play with the tires for a bit. Honest to god I don't think I will ever buy another tire again (At least for the area I live in now) They are so smooth riding for an E rated tire. My truck actually accelerates a little better with the narrower tire. I think I am saving 3 inches total off the pavement. And the quietest AT tire I have ever had. Now I will get to test them in the mud this weekend but on rock on dry pavement so far so good. Freeway speeds seem great too. Also the KO 2's start with a tread depth of 15/32 so despite the size 245/75/R16 they fill out and look pretty good on my RC. Just my .02

Nitto Terra Grapplers - 265/75r 16 on 3rd gen 4runner 5 spoke wheels (gloss black with a clear coat) -

These are the 1st gen Terra Grappler (the G2s don't come in 16").

Load range D weight about 48lbs - replace a set of Cooper Discoverer AT/3 that were stock size 265/70r 16 which were about 40lbs (standard load)

I notice no difference in ride quality with the heavier tire or stiffness of the tire. Main difference is the speedo is spot on and I can cruise at 70mph at a couple hundred lower rpm with the 1" taller tire.

This is the new stance - still debating on painting the center caps and putting them on the truck.

About 3 weeks in with my Hankook MT's. Very impressed with how smooth they roll and their road manners. Off road they are solid and predictable.

    Decisions Decisions......

So got my mind made up to getting some GoodYear Duratracs. They are currently on sale at Canadian Tire here in Canada. I chose them due to being able to get a C load tire in 16inch variation. Now just need to figure out which size I should get:

    LT265/75 R16 (32 Inch Tire) C Load $196 Each.
    265/70 R16 (31 Inch Tire) SL Load $213 Each.
    LT245/75 R16 (31 Inch Tire) C Load $180 Each.

I still have the standard steel rims with the truck and those will be good enough for me. Currently have on the original 245/75 R16 Dunlops and they are getting ready to be switched over. Which size would you go with seeing those options. Thoughts?

They are essentially SL load tires. Kind of the same as C load but not considered a LT tire. Hope that makes sense. C load is applied to LT tires and SL is kind of applied to non LT tires.
