I've been looking at doing something very similar, then I found this.

I had been tinkering with the idea of mounting my ipad in the truck and using it to stream spotify into the stereo, although my phone works just as well and it is one less thing to carry around with me. Right now i just lay the phone down btw the emergency brake and the centre console.
