So i went out to dinner with family and remote locks worked there. When i got home i went to lock the truck, nothing, no locks, no light blink. I thought well crap maybe dead battery in remote. nope. Changed it and nothing. Any help? im going to check fuses in a few minutes to see if maybe one blew? First time ive had remote locks.

Try your second remote on your spare key and see if it's the remote that is the problem or the truck.

The only suggestion I would have is to replace the remote. Has it gotten wet lately?

Just fixed it. I tried to reprogram it (which took 4 times to do, and in 80* weather at work, sucked haha) and it worked. Doors lock and unlock now. Now i my question is why would it loose its memory? The old battery is still good

For anyone interested these are the steps i used

    • Within 5 seconds: Insert and remove the key from the ignition switch twice
    • Close and open deriver’s door twice. Insert and remover the key from the ignition switch
    • Close and open driver’s door twice
    • Insert the key into the ignition switch and close the driver’s door
    • : Switch ignition ON and OFF once to program a remote transmitter code whilst retaining the original codes or twice to program a remote transmitter code whilst erasing the original codes. Three time to check how many remote transmitters are currently registered or five times to erase all registered codes. Remove key from ignition switch
    • System should now lock and unlock vehicle once, twice or five times depending which mode has been selected or one to four times, slowly, to indicate number of remote transmitters registered.
    • Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds
    • Press and release LOCK or UNLOCk button
    • System should now lock and unlock vehicle once to confirm registration twice to indicate registration has failed
    • : Repeat button procedure to program remaining remote transmitters
    • NOTE: To exit programming mode: Open driver’s door. NOTE: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed

Glad you were able to figure it out. Did you walk through an x-ray machine or something highly magnetic that would wipe the memory away?

There is nothing inside the FOB that would be erased by a magnetic field.

When the FOB is programmed to your truck you aren't programming the FOB, you are programming the truck to recognize the FOB's ID Code.

Had this same issue with a fob of mine, did the same things, switching battery out and all and it still wouldn't work. Tried my other key fob and it still worked. So I just used it. Now, I'm using a Viper key fob since I installed a remote start on my truck. I guess since I know the fix now I can eventually get around to making it right.... but I won't be rushing to it. Hehe!
