Here is my next challenge. I did not get any lug nuts with the wheels. The steel wheels have the acorn style lugs. I went to every local auto parts store. One store had 1, another had 3, one had 2, etc and they were all made different. I need 24 that are alike!! It's gonna take some running around or just ordering a set from the internet. As soon as I get my hands on the lug nuts.... I am going to drop everything and swap these wheels.

There are tons of these wheels on CL around here and I have the steels also. Be sure and post a pic when you get lugs and mounted up

The width will be fine, but are you sure those numbers are correct? It looks like your overall diameter (height) of the wheel is actually decreasing, but judging by the pictures it is increasing. If they sit 2" taller, it will only be 1" higher once they're bolted on (center to center)

I did the same tire size swap. As others have posted, there's absolutely no issues with this. Your truck will ride just fine and look a ton better.

OK. Thanks for all the info guys. I found a set of lug nuts at pep boys, but when I got the first tire off I realized that they were too long, meaning they were longer than the hole in the rim so when fully tightened, the wheel was loose enough that you cold shake it and it would move around. Gonna bring them back tomorrow and keep looking. I am going to call the dealership and some local tire shops to see if they have some. I am sure the local Toyota dealer will want $10 each though. HEHE. Anyway, when I had the weight off the stock 245/75/16 tire, it was almost the exact same height as the new tire. I feel confident that it is going to work. BTW, local Craigslist has about 10 sets of various types of wheels for sell and nobody wants to sell their lug nuts or they don't have them. This is ridiculous!!

Found some lug nuts today. It looks like a whole different truck. Plenty of clearance. Pictures do not do it justice. It was getting dark. I will post some better ones tomorrow. Thanks for everybody's help. My next upgrade is a skid plate for the bottom I think. Here is a before and after shot. Gained about 1.5 inch of height. (Seems like it anyways. Might be my imagination)IMG_1425.jpg IMG_1428.jpg IMG_1429.jpg IMG_1431.jpg IMG_1427.jpg

I was thinking stock TRD plate but I think I might start a new thread to see what everyone else thinks. What do you recommend?

i just have the stock on at the moment but was looking into the trd. I believe it bolts on over the stock one. not much protection but if your not doing anything too gnarly should be fine!

I ran into the same issue. The only place that had the correct lug nuts readily available was the Toyota dealership. Paid an arm and a leg for them, and even bought the wheel locks with key.

Started with the stock SR5 steel wheels/tires, went with the 2016 TRD Sport wheels/tires for a couple of months, and now running on 17x9 wheels and 285/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3's. Had to get a 3" leveling lift kit to fit in the wheel well, and loving them.

@jakduke, the TRD OR wheels and tires look really good on your white taco! congrats!
