Well i think its time for an update. I have had several people private message me on the install and performance. Hope some of this helps. So i have had the URD supercharger kit stage 1 on my truck for around 6 months now with about 5000 miles put on her. We all know the kit is expensive so I hope this will help with your decision to get it or not.
First off we all know the kit is NOT cheap and the install is extensive and NOT cheap either. There is alot involved. So the days after the install i was quite happy with the upgraded performance over stock, it was alot faster and peppy as hell. BUT i started getting CEL lights,
but it still ran fine. Soon after i bought a scan gauge so i could monitor this and i kept getting the P0300 code(Random Misfire/Multiple Cylinders). So i tried changing the spark plugs, cleaned the mass airflow with no resolve. So i called Gadget with URD (which by the way he was quick to respond and quick to help me try to solve this issue). After his ideas which i had already taken care of he put me in contact with his tuner. This process was VERY cool by the way, he was able to interactively tune into my Tacoma's computer from another state and diagnose the problem i was having. All he could find was my software my be outdated so he updated it and said i probably needed new o2 sensors. Well i didn't replace those and a day or so later the code came back. Like i said it didn't hurt the power of the truck but was just annoying getting the code.
So fast forward to a week ago, i have been sitting on the 76mm throttle body i ordered months ago and just never got around to installing. You will need to by a new coupler on top of the URD throttle body kit to make this work.
I installed it in an hour tops and started the truck, remember i have a 6 speed so it takes a while for the computer to lear this new TB, it idled all over and reved high and low, throwing all sorts of codes for the first 10 minutes, then it cleared up and idled fine.
Now for the BAD ASS part, the truck loves it...i don't know why it solved all my issues and the truck is running like a raped beast, but i cant keep from the tired burning in first, the throttle response is beyond excellent and its like driving a new truck( and this is with a RoofTopTent on it too) . Im not a rich guy so i cant just go down and dyno it before and after but i think i found the problem. Now i want the the stage 2 just to go faster. @Gadget@URD ;)
So is the kit worth it, thats up to you to decide, be ready for some hiccups and i would suggest investing in the throttle body and kit to install that too.
