About a month ago I replaced the stock Dunlop Grantrek 245/75/16 with the Michelin 265/70/16. About 4lbs heavier/tire and an inch wider and the same height. Handles well and quieter and lost about 1 mpg. For those who are interested.

Would expect greater grip for braking and foul weather as well.

If you had stayed the same size, how would the weight have compared?

Being an off road i stayed with the 265 70 16s, my summer mpg is 19-20 mpg.

... ^^^ ... Probably my next tire too ... especially if I can't find any MS2's or Premiers to fit.

OP ... I am surprised that you lost 1 MPG though.

I have 245/75/16's and I don't think COSTCO or Discount Tire will change sizes (not sure ).

I got mine at Town Fair Tire in Branford CT. No Problems. They checked for rubbing and clearance before installation.
I put my cap on the truck a few weeks before changing the tires. The extra 200 lbs might affect the mpg.

I will be getting my new Defenders installed with new TPMS sensors next week June 1. Can the tires be mounted so the white letters don't show? I'm a newbie to truck and auto knowledge. Thanks TW!

... ^^^ ... FWIW ... COSTCO has them on sale now ($70.00 off per 4 set) ... great tire.

Exactly where I bought them as the sale ends 5/29! Any recommendation on brand of TPMS to replace the OEM?

Yeah I got the defenders mounted with white letters facing inward. Not a prob.

I ran MS2's for years. Got the Defenders in January and they're virtually the same tire. I can't tell any difference at all as far as performance goes.

I just traded in the new stock tires and sized up to 265 70 17 in the MS2 yesterday. So far, so good. Opted for the ms2 over the defender for a little added aggressiveness(emphasis on little). I put the defenders on my 2015 Subaru Outback and experienced similar loss in MPG mentioned above, but man are those things great in snow and wet conditions. Sipes run deep too, keeping performance up even when tread works its way down.
