OPinions? Some skids cover part of the LCAs, some don't. Is it really necessary that they do?

Anyone ever experience any damage that could have been avoided by skids that are a little wider?

I'm interested to know too. I just started shopping for some and I see that some seem to cover more.

I hve the Pelfreybilt, which has that extra coverage but think it would be tough to tuck something into the alignment tabs (even with narrower skids) while going fast enough to do damage. I'm sure it can be done, though.
