Not sticking to Rt1. Just a short rally to kick off the season I guess. I am kinda new to all this. Suggestions have been made to run up Rt1 to atleast Acadia sometime this year. But Saturday is just from Wisscaset (sp) to Mount Battie. Back roads and twisty's are the name of the game.

I will be in a red Countryman S All4 if you happen to see us going.

Ever had a meal at The Smoke Stack Grill in Camden? Kind of mixed reviews online. Fingers crossed it is better these days than some of the reviewers said...lol

Got back into the state a week ago. Been out of town for work since september. I went for a cruise up the bingham area. Wound up finding a hole where the frost was still going out and there was a stream under the surface. Stuck for a couple day while I dug and jacked the truck out. Got it up out of the mud and got rocks under all the tires. Trenching helped dry that spot out and I backed out. Skids spread the weight of the truck out and kept the front from sinking too much, but the ass end drooped almost all the way out. I didn't sit there and spin either. It just kind of went plop into the holes.

She's out now with a messed up cv boot, blown rear shock and some other little things. Shock was probably blown or on its way out already.

Oops. Situations like that are why I always take a couple of 6-foot lengths of 2X10 with me when I go exploring. Got stuck almost exactly like that myself once and ended up having to build a corduroy road of sorts with saplings in order to get out. Now I can just jack it up and shove a board under there instead. Live and learn, I guess. :notsure:
Did you have any cell/internet signal? Next time send out a smoke signal on TW; there's a bunch of us that live within driving distance of Bingham that would have been able to give you an assist. @MtnClimber 's truck can get pretty much anywhere anytime, I suspect.

Had enough service to make some calls. Time wasn't an issue here. I enjoy getting stuck and getting myself out. I need to work on my load out for the back. Only things I didn't have were planks and a hi lift. Borrowed a hi lift from a relative. Now I'll be getting my own. Just need to find a spot for it. Back is already full of useful stuff.

I appreciate the encouragement to seek help here. I know this place filled with great people. I hesitate to ask anyone for help when my stupid ass is the problem.

Looks Like a nasty spot, glad you made it out. But never hesitate to ask for a hand, Id love to bomb into the woods to give a hand to a TW member.

Yessah, I'm only a 75 minutes-ish from Bingham area. And I know the area fairly well as some of Northeast Overland's trips go thru there. Plus I snomadoo up there (and farther) and always track where I've been with my inReach ;)

Last I heard that place was more geared towards buggys/ more extreme rigs and was muddy as shit. I could be wrong though having never been there. I think some of the NTC have been there before and I recall them recommending 35" + tires and lockers. Again, I could be completely off base.

you are 100% correct. Most of the trails are meant for the more built rigs. I still had fun though! IMG_1834.jpg IMG_1707.jpg IMG_1952.jpg

Anybody know if anyone in the L/A area tunes CB antennas? I accidentally ripped the old one off of my '84 Dodge and I've got a new one, but it needs to be tuned and I can't find my old SWR meter anywhere. I had the old one tuned at Lynn-Hom Electronics in Farmington, but it's a little out of my way, haha!

Portland's about as far for me as Farmington, honestly. And it's on the highway, and the Yeti is not happy on the highway :turtleride:
I appreciate it, though. I have one, somewhere.... I just don't know where it is. I bought it from ebay after I paid to have the last one tuned, and immediately put the box on a shelf somewhere and forgot about it. And then we moved, haha! :frusty:

Maybe I'll swing by the town garage and see if I can finagle one of the techs there to do it for me. Next time I buy a CB I'm going to have to make sure I get a model with the built-in meter instead of an Amazon El Cheapo, I guess.
