Window Switch Problem

Odd problem and stupid decision. The window switch on my '93 MR2 quit working, and was blowing the fuse. The window switch from the MR2 looked the same as the one in my '96 Tacoma. I put the Tacoma window switch in the MR2, and it worked. So, I thought I'd try the MR2 switch in the Tacoma. I fugured the worst thing would be a blown fuse. The windows went down, but wouldn't go up, then I smelled smoke, and it was coming from the window switch. I put the Tacoma switch back in, and I get nothing. I checked the fuse and it was good. Replaced it anyway, but no luck. The Haynes talks about a circuit breaker, but doesn't say where is it. Any ideas are appreciated.

I got the door panel off, but don't see how to manually raise the window. Anyone know?

First off, Welcome to TW.

You can just bypass the switch and just connect the wires til the window is up. the switch is a on-off-on. so take the "up" wire from the on terminal and ground it to the ground or - wire on the switch. NOTE: Do not leave them connected and this should only be attempted if you have sufficient knowledge of wiring. DO NOT attempt if you feel nervous.

The switch works in another car, and the fuse is good. I think is has to be electrical in some way. The passenger window doesn't work either. The power locks work fine. I pulled the kick panel, and there is something under it that has DOOR CONTROL on it. Don't know how to tell if it is good or not. Also, there is a knob looking thing on the top of the kick panel that has 2 wires attached to it. Any idea on what it could be?
The window motor looks like it has a cap on it, maybe something under it to turn to raise the window. I couldn't pry it off, but didn't use much force, afraid of breaking it.

You could hook the truck up to 220v and claim insurance somehow?!

 

Thank you all for your input. I got the windows up by the post just before this one. I need to check out the Integration Relay and the Door Lock Control Relay next. It might wait until summer.
