My '04 is currently at 196k... I thought she was still young too..

I drive mine all through the woods when I'm home and then 4-10 hours away for work.

It doesn't help that I'm 21 and drive the ol' girl like she's brand new. But she's tough as nails. I've never had any trouble out of her besides an occasional squeaky belt. Most of the time when I'm headed out of state I set her on cruise 75-85 depending on the limit, for hours at a time.

It's important to run up the RPM range once in a while, get some serious airflow through the ports and chamber, to blow the carbon out. Just like running the AC every couple months in the winter, it just keeps everything working right and running clean. Those of us babying our engines all year so they last longer, aren't doing it any favors. I'm not saying to thrash it every day. I'm just saying engines need to be worked occasionally. We really don't need to worry about how long our engines will run, the Toyota 4-cylinder engine will run a very long time with basic maintenance and store-brand motor oil. That's one big reason why we bought Tacomas, right? Just my $0.02
My 2006 2.7 has 120,000 miles and it runs perfect, purrs just like it's new, as I suspect most of our 2.7s are running fine. I reasonably expect to get at least 300,000 miles or more from this truck. I don't haul or tow much (usually dirt bikes and camping gear) and 95% of my driving is on pavement, about half of the miles are highway. Two days per week I run up some of the local foothills where I have to downshift to make the grade. A good routine for the engine I think. Mostly easy with an occasional uphill run. And most trips are 10-30 miles, gets the engine and oil to full temp. That's important too.

I have a 2008 RC 4x4 with 130k on it, runs and drives like the day I brought it home. Hopefully it still has plenty of life left in it, as I have no desire to buy a new vehicle.

I like it a lot. I installed the header and an AFE pro dry filter about a month after I bought the truck and it seemed to make a decent improvement. I tow my boat pretty regularly and the added torque was a welcome change.

I drive mine about 30 miles a day just to and from work on the interstate. I have noticed that when I take it out on the dirt roads around where I live (there are many) it always runs better after being run for a couple of hours off road especially if I do any climbing where I have to rev it. I don't do a lot of off roading but they say you have to drive at least 10 miles a month to keep the hubs in the front diff lubed so that's what I do sometimes two times a month. I do about 50 miles a month off road.

That is a good routine. Your truck will last a long time, I think.

Our work trucks are assigned to the managers and they stay in 2H pretty much all the time. On the occasion I get to take them out, I put them in 4H on the mostly straight, empty sections of pavement. This helps to keep things flowing and lubed, just like you say.

I bought it from my dad so it has sentimental value. It's a real cream puff. Don't know how long I can keep it that way in Wyoming winters though but I'll find out. I fluid film it every summer. I want it to last as long as possible. There are days where I spend all day just driving around on dirt roads but I don't "abuse it". The 4WD gets sticky if they sit around a long time without it being used. mine was like that when I first got it. It had been sitting for months and not driven because the old man hurt his back and couldn't drive a stick anymore. That's the only reason I got my hands on it with only 119,000 miles. Garaged in California almost it's entire life and maintenance done like clockwork with oil and filter changes every 3000 miles. You could eat off the underside until I got a hold of it.

'06 reg cab 2.7l 4x4 5spd manual with 150,000mi I do run Mobil1 0w-20 every 3 to 5 thousand miles. Runs as good today as it ever has. Starting to notice some rust on the frame, though nothing looks catastrophic.

Pretty sure the 2006 2.7 calls for 5w30, although I know they switched to 0w20 for fuel economy reasons and switching won't hurt the motor. But I am curious... at what mileage did you switch to 0w20?

I'm sitting at 133k miles on my 09 2.7 and I wheel it, drive it to work, load the crap out of it with camping gear etc, drive northern highways with 10% grades to climb over 6k ft above sea level. The thing is like a little tractor just keeps on pulling. I do oil changes every 10k km and the oil is clear most of the time until it's within a few thousand k of its change. I literally have held the truck in 3rd gear at 4k rpm for 10 minutes to get up hills. Still drives and sounds like the day I bought it. I've also gone two years on the same brake pads and they'll probably last another two or 3.

I have a 07 2.7L 5MT. It has 142,000 and for the first 120,000 miles I always red lined the truck everyday a ton of times.

Until I got a speeding ticket for going over 100 mph, I've been more relaxed lately.

It's still on the stock clutch. I'm using 0w-20 Mobil 1 synthetic with factory oil filter from day one.

This truck is incredible. Love the 2.7L. By far the best value in all of the automotive industry, hands down.
