THIS SHIT NEEDS TO BE UP TOP.

DO NOT. DO NOT. DO NOT. GO TO ED KOSINSKI AT TOYOTA CERTIFIED IN SANTEE. HE WILL RIP YOU OFF. I used to work there and time and time again I saw him upsell things that were perfectly fine, and had customers leaving with bills over $1,000 he is human filth and is literally the worst person I have ever had the misfortune of knowing.

Well, I hope today's experience at my local Toyota dealer doesn't set the 'tone' for future dealings with Toyota.

I'm trying to get my steering wheel fixed/replaced due to some bulging on one side and they're acting like it's a $5k part needing some district manager approval.

Truck is nearly a year old with 8900 miles.

Yes, I went to Poway. Awaiting approval now.

Insane how I could get $9k of warranty work on my GTR at the snap of a finger, but Toyota trippen on a steering wheel. Lol.

Toyota Carlsbad did right by me. Found out that one of the nutzerts for my hood wasn't in good shape - tried a hood swap in Vegas with a poor guy that drove all the way from Utah to meet me, only to discover that one of the four bolts that retain the hood wouldn't come out. Took it to Carlsbad once I was back in town and it took some effort by my service manager but Toyota replaced the hood and painted it under warranty without much effort from me.

Unfortunately I ended up with an identical hood due to warranty replacement rules, rather than the hood I wanted, but they covered the hood, paint, and my loaner car on my 2015.

I've had pretty good experiences with getting warranty work done on the Tacoma

    • I had TSB 4-leaf pack done by Toyota of San Deigo, which was a fight
    • Toyota SD solved a body creak noise
    • Toyota SD put the updated TSB intermediate steering shaft in my truck.
    • Toyota El Cajon replaced a 3rd member / diff gasket at 20K
    • Toyota El Cajon also replaced my headlights under TSB, no problems.
    • I also had a number of other minor TSBs performed at Toyota El Cajon that I can't remember.

I was a Heavy line team leader at Toyota Carlsbad for many years and all my techs were good guys and we didnt have any shady service writers and the shop foreman was a good guy. But that was a LOOOOONG tima ago, so I doubt anybody but the owner is still there now.

the service writers at el cajon toyota got me new headlights when i went there simply to buy some fluids for the wife's 09. apparently the truck was still under some kind of tsb/warranty extension which covered the turn signal lenses melting/cracking.

I need an FJ Cruiser like yesterday. New bumper finish work before it's time to get jiggly with it. Anyone have one laying around?

I also have had mostly great service at Toyota Carlsbad. I try to have Dave Ramstead be my service writer when I go there, but really, anyone else should be fine.

The only negative was with my 2005 Tacoma and how (back then) they refused to do anything about the rear suspension issues and said the bottoming-out on speed bumps was "normal"... but there was a TSB (this was before I knew about Tacoma World and TSBs).

Of course now, I go to Jason "Speed Freek" for most of my Tacoma mechanical needs! The front hub replacement being the most notable excellent service, as well as my new Bilstein 5100 shocks he installed, new brake pads, the two differentials and transfer case fluid changing, etc.
