I am new here and I own a Tacoma 2013 with 34,000 miles. I bought it new.a v-6 4x4....anyway, I need some humility cause a might have screwed up but, I hope not. I have been driving my truck in 4th gear for 3 years up until a month ago.....call me ignorant. But I'm not. I just wasn't aware that I put it in 4th gear instead of drive. I take care of this truck like its my kid. I use non ethanol gas. I did the 30,000 mile check up at dealership. I have everything done for maintenance that's possible. It still looks new.....and it drives like its brand new.... I drive in drive mode now. Just never realized it was in 4th gear and never really drove fast on highway. The difference is I stay at 2 rpm now rather than 3 rpm on meter..and of course, it drives faster on highway with not using more gas etc......have I done any damage without realizing it? I hope not.....what's your thoughts at Tacoma world? I love this truck man.....there's no better than a Tacoma 4x4 ....Mike wilson

You're good. The worst thing that happened is you used more gas than you had to

I did the same thing in my girlfriend's Corolla on a 5 hour trip from LA to Sacramento...drove halfway there in 4th gear lol. She made me buy all the gas.
