Hey, guys. I'm finally putting in a switch panel today, and was curious if I could get some input from others who have installed similar systems in their Tacos. I am working with a 2012 Access Cab TRD Sport MT.

Here is the section from the install guide that has given me a little pause:

The first item (7) seems simple enough. I can find the wire running to the markers in my headlamp assembly and crimp into that. (I'm still open to suggestions or cautions for this.)

But what's the cleanest/best way to tap into an ignition sense signal? Is there something in the fuse box I can get into with an Add-a-Fuse? Or is there a typical splice point (on the driver's side of the engine bay, optimally) that people use for ignition sense?

Thanks for the look. I'm obviously green when it comes to 12v stuff, but I'm not afraid to experiment, either.

I've been working all afternoon trying to find a fuse in the engine bay that isn't hot with the ignition off. I think I've tried every fuse at this point, including things like the radio I would expect are ignition switches, and everything is sending an ignition on signal to the panel and lighting up the LEDs. Is there something I'm missing when it comes to using an add-a-fuse?

Just to close the circle, I ended up running the blue ignition sensing wire through the firewall and tapping into the IGN with an Add-a-Fuse. Still baffles me that all of those fuses are hot all the time in the engine bay, but whatever works.

Thanks for sharing this! I hate wiring and think I've made up my mind and am gonna pick one of these up. If it's convent for you I'd love to see some pics of your install.
