Pre-Runner specs reference Tow off the bumper 8000 lbs

The 07 PreRunner owners Manual has a specific haulage rating of 8000 lbs off the bumper for the rear wheel drive Taco. A drop ball hitch seems the likeliest conversion and suggests the frame is sturdy enough to handle it. Has anyone actually followed this recomendation?

 

I have the exact truck as yours and i know without looking at my manual the truck cant do 8000lbs no matter towing package or bumper. But here is a picture of what the manual said.

 

You are partially correct but the 07 manual also has a section that specifically makes reference to PreRunner towing capacity separate from other tacomas.

The 07 isn't rated to tow 8k, especially off the bumper. The bumper is rated for class 2, 3500 lbs.

With a factory package youre at 6500.
