    LMAO - I guess to non-military folks this may be a legit quesiton - pretty much anywhere you go you can take a vehicle for free - but if you get selected for a Non-volunteer Short Tour you get to take nothing - including your kids/wife etc for up to 18 months if single and if you can take a vehicle to the "short tour location" which = shithole - you have to stay three years which most don't want to do.

    My guess is he either leased it - you cant take leased vehilces, or he's got a short tour to like Korea where you can't take vehicles or even to a nice dusty area like Qatar etc...

    Around military bases this happens often. I got a short notice PCS out of cycle and wasnt' supposed to happen to Germany around 35 days after I bought a 4Runner, thankfully I went for 4 years and took the Runner with me:)
