1998 Tacoma 4wd 15" rims - just bought it. My hobby is cruising on gravel roads. I was previously running Hankook Dynapro AT's on a Jeep Wrangler and loved them.

Two primary concerns are durability (the area I drive is called the Flint Hills for good reason) and economy. The most plys and smallest size would be ideal. I do not do much water crossing or driving in muddy conditions. Also, I do not tow anything. Sometimes, I will haul a canoe on a ladder rack and some gear, but that's it.

Any suggestions on a tire? P225/75R15 Dynapro AT's are on my radar. It seems like 70 series would do better on economy, but I have not found any good gravel tires for a 15" rim.

I am not against buying 16" rims, there are plenty on craigslist. Posting this mainly to see if I am missing an obvious choice for a good tire in 15" rim size.

Thank you for any help you may be wiling to offer. I searched the forum prior to posting and mostly saw people looking for big tire sizes.

My mom has Cooper AT3's in 225/75/15 on her '90 Toyota 4x4. Most people that run them seem to like them. Id check out the Michelin LTX MS2 in 235/75/15. They have a great rep for tread wear, durability, and traction. They aren't an aggressive tire, but people love them.

thanks RogueTRD! appreciate it. several people recommended Coopers. ended up buying Hankook P235-75R15 dyanapro atm 6 ply tires. paid $123/tire 6mos interest free, $120 in rebates between the retailer/manufacturer and the shop picked up/dropped off my truck.

if you don't see me post again in this thread, you can be assured: I am either incapacitated or the tires made it through a full spring/summer of world class gravel torture.
