    PVC was my first option.

I pulled the trigger on some supplies and threw something together tonight. I need to refine it a little bit more but its a good start.

    Thanks.

I need to go back and line the box and tubes with some foam. Work on an idea on how to stabilize the 2 tubes. Find a good way to mount the setup to the load bars. And eventually paint everything.

Nice. I would just brace the tubes about 3/4 of the way up, throw some foam in it, and paint the whole thing black.

Something like this, only wider, as this wouldn't span the distance between your two tubes. Maybe you can fabricate something. These are for chain link fences.

My 9' is a 4 piece rod...it's a PITA to take apart when I'm just jumping in the truck to head a couple miles up or downstream. So, really, I don't break it down usually until I'm done.

I have had good luck just setting it in the truck bed for short trips but we don't have heavy vegetation around here. The reel goes against the cab and the tip hangs out the tail gate. for longer trips I just break it down. Setting back up just gives me some time to sit by the water and watch the lake or river for a bit before casting.

Thanks. I do plan on adding a brace or 2 to the set up before all said and done.

I can fit my 6'6" and 7'6" rod in the bed of the truck on a diagonal if there bed isnt full of shit, but the 9' rod is a pain to haul without breaking down.

My initial reason for doing this tube set up is for my buddy to use on his T4R when he drives on fishing trips. I'll probably use the tube on camping trips and shit like that where space is at a premium as well.

Loving the new Redington/Lamson combo. No monsters on it yet, but several 12-14" rainbows a few days ago. Smashed a hopper. Seems a little early for hoppers, but I decided to try it out anyway.

Sorted out a way to connect and brace the 2 tubes. Seems to work out pretty well. If the rain holds off tomorrow, Ill hit it with some paint and finalize the mounting

Anyone here into warm water fly fishing? I love fishing for trout but crushing smallies in the upper Potomac is my favorite.

Headed down to the South Holston for Memorial Day Weekend. Hoping for some good hatches!

Been wanting to fish the SoHo for a while. Haven't made it up there yet though.

It's nice. Probably the closest thing to Western U.S. fly fishing that we've got in the Mid-Atlantic. Nice open stretches of river with lots of trout. It can get very crowded though.

I'm headin to the white river mid June. We fish mostly at night with spinning gear, but we're gonna throw some big streamers this year.

Have you ever tried mouse/frog patterns at night? I almost shit myself the first time I had a big brown blow up on one of those in the pitch dark.
