Had my 16 ac TRD OR for 2 months now. Have had to repair the rear bumper twice already. I have to park it on the street. First time was due to bumper car parking method damage: $600 in parts. Last week the street sweeper tagged it. Didn't own up to it, but I know the schedule, and am having a supervisor look into it. So far, another $600. I have done the work both times.

The back-up sensors are very easily damaged. They are $160-$225 each to replace. I didn't really want such a nonsense feature on my truck, but as you know, they come in the tech package.

My advice, if you want to keep the bumper, as opposed to going aftermarket (bruteforce, etc.), be familiar with how to disassemble it, and replace the components. You will need to eventually. Also, would advise having an impact feature integrated into the security system. Might encourage people to own up to their irresponsible parking maneuvers.

how hard is it to take off the bumper? I am going to replace my chrome caps with black. Is it worth just paying someone to do it? Sorry you are having problems. That sucks.

Sounds like you could benefit from that go pro mount. Point it toward the rear and record those a- holes. That sucks man, but at least so far its just been a bumper and not a body panel.

Yeah. Been livin in cities most of my life, so parking damage is sort of a given. My stance has pretty much to not let it get to me, but take the time to skool others when I see reprobates engaging in bumping and banging parking techniques. Came close to blows a few times, but I think I made my point.

EEResponsible: You don't need to drop the bumper to remove the end caps. Makes it a bit easier if you do, but it can be a bit heavy if you're working alone. There are other threads that address bumper removal, and component replacement. Do a search and study them. So much of the plastics used by manufacturers are pretty frangible. That black plastic cap in the center (the bumper step plate) is held on by barbs and clips. If you use improper body English, you'll break the tabs, license plate lamps, etc. And as mentioned, be especially careful with the back-up sensors ($200).
