Hey guys, bare with me for asking a dumb question. I'm curious if there is any benefit (mpg or handling) for going from a stock 17" w/ BFG KO to a 16" stock wheels with regular passenger tires on them? I'm guessing the 16"s w/ passenger tired would be a few pounds lighter but it would make no or little difference in mpg or handling?

If you could shed 5-10 lbs per wheel/tire, I'd say there'd be a little difference.

EDIT: This is purely a guess though.

Reducing tire width (friction) and rotational mass mass will help with MPG. I dont know if you anyone give you a MPG number-Depends on how much weight you are losing and also because driving habits is a big variable. However some people that have moved up in tire size can give you some estimates probably around 1-2 mpg.

I plan to take my Tacoma on a 4K summer road trip and I'm just curious if anyone has done the switch with any noticeable difference. I guess not as most are going for lifts.

If you see any difference (unlikely), it won't be enough to justify the money spent. Tire tread, rubber compound, and psi are the main places you'll see mpg gain/ loss. My 33s yield better mpgs than my 265/70/16 did because of the tread/ compound differences.
