is there a way to increase the load capacity of the oem rack on the cab? Or should I just go aftermarket with a Yakima?

Yeah, I have one and I would use it for over 100 lbs. It's plastic with aluminum cross bars so maybe a really high heavy load might crack the base, but a couple of canoes, kayaks etc aren't a problem. Basically you just need to use common sense. Everything has a design limit, so they have to put the limit on it, but it will work with more weight. The disadvantage with the aftermarket racks is noise. The OEM folds to the sides and is silent when not in use. A big advantage for me, anyway. I love peace and quiet!!
