I'd go v6 1st gen. That's just me though. I would also look in TN Ga NC outside the salt belt, the drive or flight would be worth it to get a solid truck. I paid 9k cash for my 98 with 84k original miles with not a speck of rust

My advise to you would be, don't look for the approval of this forum to make a purchase. Do your own research. All you have to do is type a question into the search bar of google or this forum and you will see that every subject you could ever think of has been covered, many, many times. Then you will know what to look for(e.g.-one owner) and what to stay away from(e.g.-NE Tacomas=RUST), and what a fair price is. Figure out exactly what you want from your truck(4wd, 4dr, auto trans, etc.), what your budget is, then make an informed purchase. Good luck. In the end the truck is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Mine had 74k on it when I got it and I paid 13.5k for it and it was a double cab that are supposedly worth more so I think they can definitely go lower. Mine has 102k on it now, no trouble and it's in for a frame replacement at the moment! Biggest thing to watch for on these things is frame rust, that's their achilles heel.

Good point..I wonder if that frame has been replaced or not? Carfax I think would show it, or get the VIN and I think you can check through Toyota. If it's been reframed that may explain the higher price?
