That truck is the reason the tacoma is a truck, the current version is smaller ment for Europenan roads, but it is the same as a Taco

Stock 4runner for now but hopefully a Tacoma soon.

    Actually no it's not. lol

To the OP, I'm sure there is hundreds of threads on the Hilux on this site but not in the 3rd gen forum because it's not a 3rd gen Tacoma. Yes everyone that knows anything about the Hilux knows we don't get those in the US (I know this topic has been beat to death over the years). As with most threads, if you search you will find these threads.

Personally I think they are ugly and don't understand why many people have such a hard on over them compared to the Tacoma. I think the Tacoma is a much better looking truck.

    Lights for days! Sasquachified!
The big difference between the Taco and the Hilux is the diesel option. That's one of the main reasons its so popular. It's a combined reliability/durability that Toyota and diesel can provide!

The Hilux is a work truck. The Tacoma is a comfort truck.

I'd much rather a Hilux, I don't give a crap about comfort. I want a boxed frame, good load capacity and reliability.

The reason I'm driving a Tacoma is because of the hilux. Got to ride around one in Costa Rica 20 years ago. Didn't see too many double cabs around here back then. Thought the hilux was the coolest truck.

    Workin' on it....
I lived in South Africa for 3 months while I was teaching at the University of Pretoria. My colleague had a nice little D4D hilux....love that truck. Right hand drive is really no biggie, you get used to it pretty quickly.

Twice the payload. Diesel. No 6' front end you can't see over with stupid pedestrian crumple zone. Better offroad angles. So maybe uglier, but twice (OK, maybe 20% more) the truck.

Agreed, they used to look cool but this one is too beefy and rounded, looks bloated (kinda like the new Tundras IMO)
