Finally gonna do a build thread! Trucks been through a lot and I want to keep track of mods and maintenance... I'm no automotive genius but I've really enjoyed learning and working on my truck. In high school I was the shop rat at a garage and later had a 55' Chevy Pickup I wrenched on a bit, but have been most involved with the taco. I have installed everything minus welding the sliders, gearing the ARB locker, and the electrical stuff. Goal for the build is to be capable on moderate to challenging trails. So far I think the truck is ahead of the driver :p

4.88 complete front clamshell with upgraded needle bearing and solid spacer ordered from ECGS. And rear gear set with master install.

Northstar AGM 27f battery shipping any day now

40w diffused pattern LED cubes for rear bumper came today :D

Truck is on the up. Need to order spark plugs, weld on rear diff cover, put a bead behind stock alignment cams (2 bent), spindle gussets, gas tank skid and I should be good for the summer :D

Trying to keep track of everything to be done along with regear...

    Rear:
Chase threads on diff fill plug m18x1.5
Replace o-ring seal on driver side axle
Swap brake lines for extended stainless
    Mount Iggy pods in bumper

    Front:
Lower ball joints (passenger is spewing it's grease load)
    Replace OME stem cushion bushings
    Bend/tack alignment cams into place

    Under hood:
Reroute rigid fog wiring to rear lights
H10 to Duetsch for rigids to run on factory fog switch
Replace compressor manifold (small crack currently sealed w rtv)
    Northstar AGM battery

Ohh yeah, and regear to 4.88s :D

I'm gonna have to do all this shit bit by bit. Not sure how I'm gonna find the time. Mother's Day this weekend, son's 2nd bday next, work the whole weekend after. I will somehow get it all done this month though. Truck will likely be on stands for a week or two. May call out for some wrench spinnin pals to come by.

Love the build! Love the pic of your adventures with the kid too! What did you get for lift with the 887s and all of the armor on there? I am guessing 2.5?

Thanks Sean! The armor is a tad much for the 887s. Love the soft ride but prob around 2-2.25". When I take the 80lb ifs skid off its more like 2.5-2.75. That's all eyeball though, didn't actually measure. I'm gonna rock the 887s until I get a winch, then it'll be upgrade time. Maybe 886s and top plate, maybe 700# kings

It's really fun watching the dude become real interested in trucks too. Don't tell my wife (jk) but he sat on my lap and drove through a Frametwister obstacle last weekend. Screwed the pooch by not getting any pics...

My son is 4 years old and he absolutely loves trucks. We sit there for hours while he points at parts and I name them for him. Awesome stuff! Keep up the good work on the build and the kid!

Haha slick rock was a ton of fun! Disregard all my stalls... Right between those two videos I smacked the fuck outta my trans skid. That was the easy line. This year I'm going harder line on drivers right.

You pulled cv's awhile ago, right? Tap it out with prybar, but how did you get the internal c clip? Snap ring pliers?

    I'll pm you my address

That's one thing I still need to buy are mid and trans skids. I just saw that Jerry now has them up on his website.
I Replaced one side with a brand new oem CV so I can have a spare then had the boots and clip replaced by a shop and swapped it out with the other side. I was gonna do the boot kit myself but when I cut the old boot off and realized I didn't have the correct puller and what a mess it was I said screw it. It was worth the $40 he charged me.

    Northstar 27f installed

Highly annoying fender tap at 50mph + solved. It was a loose splash guard in passenger wheelwell. Sooooo nice not to hear that anymore.

UCA greased. Followed a kid on a 50cc down the main road at Carnegie thinking his bike was squeaky as fuck. Then he turned off and it was still there

Gathered breaker bar for Saturday clamshell swap. Need to pick up dead blow and 12mm Allen socket. Will rent tie rod puller from Oreillys.

    Productive day :D
