Attended my girlfriend's Mom's wedding this past weekend. Last minute issues with a "friend of a friend that does photography" left them with no one to take pictures. We planned on going camping afterwards so I had brought my camera equipment with me and offered to shoot for them. Made it very clear that I've never done anything of the sort and no guarantees.

What a learning experience! Had quite a bit of fun since there was so much subject matter and didn't have the stress of being paid and messing anything up.

Also got me out of standing, sitting and praying for 40 minutes haha.

Seeing some awesome pictures on here and can't wait to see what people are able to help me with in regards to maybe composition.
This is the only photo I have on my phone to show right now. Testing out my olympus omd em5 mk2 with a 75-300 basic lens

Thats a pretty good composition for a head shot/portrait. I almost always try to get low as possible and eye level, unless your going for a different look. Getting lower on animals appears more natural and less intimidating, especially on small critters like birds. And probably the biggest advantage is that it puts more distance between your subject and the background/foreground. This will let your depth a field blow out the areas in front and behind the subject and isolate them in the frame. I think it makes for more pleasing and less distracting images.

I shot some portraits in a high rise in San Francisco today, but this seemed much more interesting.

I had it on the camera hanging around my neck, I also had my smaller camera bag with another lens, they looked in it and away I went. I know Safeco has a rule of no detachable lens however I had no problems, they never looked twice.

Tell me about it lol my pockets will be pretty empty if I keep hanging around them!

For a small town in Wyoming there's a handful of pretty cool rides running around in this group.

And thank you! I'm slowly getting a little better at the rolling photos.

Thank you! They're usually my favorite ones to take & edit.

I'll be shooting an Aston Martin in the coming weeks :spy: I plan to try some rollers for that session.

Ordered a Canon 24mm f/2.8 today for my SL1. I have the 50mm and love it so figured this one would find a place in my bag. It should get a nice testing in 2 weeks on a 4 day off road trip to the Ozark Mountains.

Love it. The size is great for walking around or stuffing in a carry on bag. Takes nice pictures and the price was great from B&H a few years ago when I picked it up. Not sure what skill set your mom has but I am just someone that likes to take pictures so far from professional. The auto settings are not bad and I use them from time to time. The settings are easy to navigate with the touch screen.
