    Hi All,

Looking for advice on my next tire. Deciding between 265/75/16 c-rated and 235/85/16 e-rated. I am pretty new to all of this but have been reading up on TW regarding the subject..

I have a 4cyl '01 regular cab 4x4. I plan on installing 5100s in the front set to 1.5 inches for a little extra clearance/leveling. I am trying to keep it light because of the tiny engine/gas.

    265s - 46lbs
    235s - 43lbs

The 265s will probably be a softer ride but a bit heavier. I am not sure which will get better mpgs because the 265s will have the extra width which will hurt the mpgs while the 235s are a bit harder because of the e -rated which i hear may also hurts mpgs...

    Subd,

I too want to know what the TW veterans say.

You can get a nice 265/75/16 AT tire for less than 40 lbs if you stay with a P rating. Your little truck does not need E rated tires, nor C to be honest.

I have the 265/75/16 Cooper at3 with about 15000 miles on them. I have an 08 4cyl and MPG dropped 1-2 mpg when I switched from some stock dry rotted 245's. Overall, I love the tire and like the look of thee wider tires but the narrower makes more sense with the 4 banger.... unless they are 10 ply. 4 ply on these trucks is plenty.
