I'm in the painful process of switching out brake lines in the rear of my 2001 2.7 4x4. Looking for some of the brake lines, and proportion valve, thinking of going to a used parts place for some of it. Curious what years ect use the same parts or lengths of lines.

Basically the proportion valve is rusty as f., and the 2 lines that failed are coming out of it, within the first few inches. So I'm suspect of all the lines now. I may try cleaning the valve, as it could be fine but the lines make me nervous.

I have a friend helping me with this, and he knows the job pretty well. But I was hoping to find the brake lines to avoid some flaring ect

I had one of the hard lines that run from the front to LSPV spring a leak on me while on the highway. Scary stuff!!! Luckily it was a Sunday afternoon and not very busy.

I bought some line and fittings and made my own replacement line for ~$25. After the fact, I stopped by the dealer for some oil filters and inquired about the cost of prebent lines as I was curious. I do't have part numbers, but they do carry them. They were about $60 each (two hard lines total, supply & return). I'm now getting a new frame (lines and LSPV included) so I don't have a need to replace the LSPV, but if I did, I would have purchased a manual valve instead of going OEM.

It looks like a pain in the a$$ to change out the brake lines. How did you find the job with the ones you made yourself? Going to see the dealer today for some options, cost ect..

Wasn't terrible, just need to make sure you are making a good double flare on each end, otherwise they will leak (I had to redo one end). I made them work, but it obviously would have been MUCH easier with the prebent lines.

I have been making my own Brake and Fuel lines since Noah`s ArK !! It seems like some time.

I use the copper Nickel line it is great to work with Flares easy .

Buy your self A Decent double flare tool kit .

Federal Hill sell the line and our flare nuts .

Just remember to tape ends closed when feeding them where they could get dirt in
