What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Dang, sucks I missed the group buy. Just bought the rock sliders and am about to pull the trigger on the skids. They look good. Did you do the exhaust reroute?

 

Damn good looking truck! What's the specs of the lift/tires?

 

Well, I might as well post up since most of you jerks influenced my purchases and made my wallet lighter. I hate all of you!!!

Picked up a 4x4 DCLB TRD Sport w upgrade package in Blazing Blue Pearl for my bday about 2-3 weeks ago. The modifications started before I even got out the door, traded in betty the dbl cab Black Tundra for her, was a happy and sad day at the same time.

-Had the dealer strip off their logo bs and dealer plate holders
-Had them remove the OEM steps for the truck(I wasn't charged for them)
-Added on BFG KO2 265/70R17's had them on my tundra, absolutely loved that tyre, got them E rated as I wanted longer life and I never found them that harsh to be honest.
-Put on the factory roof rack, IMO makes these trucks look so much better
-Added in the BED mat

Options I put in over the last two weeks:
-Weather tech Floor mats front and rear
-Quick fist mounts to carry my shovel/tools when I am going places for work as I hate lose items in the truck and i always need a shovel and usually my fubar(I do demo for a living), its either that or I use a Bizlat(can't remember the proper name) bar
-threw on my extra set of cleats I had from my old taco
-Clazzio Seat Covers, I'm tight to the roof now, but it works and they will break in and relax a bit as will the foam in the seat.
-Race face tail gate pad for my MTB

Options to come in the next 8-10 months:
-dog, man needs his best friend with him at all times.
-2-3 inch lift, just haven't figure out what I actually need/versus want. Need to be careful in this area as we all know one can go overboard on this
-ARB storage slide/box (probably the shorter one) installed on the passenger side, so I can still strap down my dive tanks standing up against the cab.
-Dual battery system with a switchblock in the lower left of the cab in the useless cubby
-Light bar on the truck.
-Would love to put in a hidden winch on the front (thinking US off road, but for their 4runners, if they ever come out with something), I am not overly impressed with all these huge aftermarket bumpers, I like a more subtle approach to off roading, I am more into over landing anyways, don't get me wrong they look good just not the look I am after.

I think once i get that all done I will have the truck where i want it to be, as much as i would like to install a ARE/Snugtop canopy/topper/cab, I am not sure I can justify the price, and they restrict access to my bed for climbing in and out and grabbing my dive gear, which is my real passion.

And tapatalk comes through in the end!! And no that is not my POS malibu beside my truck. My upstairs neighbour has no concept of taking care of anything he owns. I am also parked halfway on the grass as my tundra had suspect dings on the doors, that lined up with his car/door height.

When I lived in Phx I bought my taco from the Toyota dealer on the auto loop off Elliot. They were quite good to deal with and had great tech's at that time. Keep in mind this was 11 years ago.

It once a month, well the blue angel trail) , diving at lake pleasant and I'd head out to the mountains out to the east out the us60 . Can't remember the name of them but there was a mom n pop Mexican shop that had the best tortillas ever.

Actually I have no idea if this still exists but there was a gas station in wikieup(spelling?) that had a lot of rattle snakes up in the wall and use to have a snake pit out back. They use to have the best homemade apple pie I have ever had. I spent 4 yrs there combing the sw US for work. Sure do miss it, also had a lot of fun hanging out around Tempe and the university. Sigh to be young again.

That's it its road trip time this summer!!

Took it camping up in Denali National Park. Shoulder season = free everything!


Then I brought it home and put some Super Springs helper springs on it. They're progressive, so only kick in when weight is applied, though they come with two mounting holes, using the top hole gives a little lift/preloads them. I got a little extra lift on the back end, but I've got a CBI bed rack to install tomorrow, and I'll see how things settle after that.
@RichVT, I didn't have any issues with the install (hopefully I didn't screw something up terribly). Actually went a lot quicker than I expected, though probably a bit longer than installing Sumo Springs. I got more pics of you want to see em.

 

I'll add that the Super Springs make the ride feel more like a truck. Far less "sloshy" than it was before. I kind of miss it tbh.

Dipped my grill using Plasti Dip. I added a great, IMO, aluminum tonneau cover by Paragon. www.peragon.com. This hard cover accordions down into the bed when opened so there is no loss of visability. I also added a Pop Lock tailgate automatic lock using advice from TW. Great lock but came with wrong instructions so the help from TW was much needed to get the wiring right. Thanks!!!

Looks awesome, doesn't look Like you lose much bed space opened either. I'm not a fan of the ones that stick up and block the rear window but this one Looks sweet.

Nice looking cover. Thier web site doesn't mention much on how it's designed to keep water out. Does it seal up well?

 

No, everything fits like it's supposed to. I may do it in the future though, because I'm pretty sure if I redo the frame torque braces, I can get another 1.5 inches of clearance at the trans/transfer case level.

I wish my truck sat like that. I'm waiting to see if the winch/bumper combo bring the front down a tick. I don't want to be staring at the tree tops when I'm hauling weight, so I'd prefer the rake.
