Transmission Pan Depth

Anyone ever noticed a difference in auto transmission pan depths between Tacomas?

I just replaced the auto transmission in my 2002 v6 DC Prerunner with one out of a what I believe was a 2001 v6 Prerunner. Once all was bolted up, I noticed the transmission pan on the new transmission was much shallower. I have searched around, and the only mention of a differences was a post I found on Pirate here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyota-tacoma/883281-a340-deep-tranny-pan.html

Anyone know anything about the different pan depths? Before I fill up the new one with new fluid, should I see about swapping over the old, deeper pan?

For anyone that is curious, I pulled the pans off - two totally different filter and possibly valve body setups between the two. I decided not swap anything around after discovering this. The shallower pan wouldnt fit over the filter on the old transmission anyway.

For reference, the shallow pan transmission with the smaller filter came out of a 2001 v6 Prerunner. The deeper pan and larger filter was on my 2002 v6 Double Cab Prerunner.
