emissions problems P0446

I'm a new member of Tacoma World. Bought my truck brand new in 1999. Just put new pistons and heads in January. Code P0446 keeps coming up and I need to smog soon. 17 year old charcoal canister will be replaced in a few days. If the code comes back, then I think I should be looking at the EGR valve or the purge valve. Iv'e already replaced old cracked vacuum lines. Is there a way to clean the EGR without having to drop the $150 +- to get a new one? also, where would I find the purge valve? The repair manual is hard to tell where exactly it is. Thanks in advance for your help.

 

I suspect it is your purge valve. Rockauto has them for $113 and they have picture of one so you will know what to look for under the hood.

 

Comes back as a vent/valve issue, could be mechanical or electrical heres a link that might help...
