New wheels issues

good morning first post here, i just got a 2016 tacoma sr5 with base wheels, and i just swaped them out with the trd or wheels, but i keep getting the tpms light, how can i program them?? Do i need to take it to the dealer??

So the light was on, but then it went off and has been off for about 30 minutes... Is it possible that they auto sync?

 

Does the tire pressure show on your dash now?

 

oh good point, ill check at lunch time see if they do..

 

push in the button by your left knee... go for ride in truck to about 70mph .... manual says highway speed for 5-10 minutes but I found going over 70 does it. If you have new sensors the new numbers need to be programed into the computer. Most tire shops will do it for you for a small fee, unlike the dealer!

So i would need to know the IDs of the sensors to do this? Is there a way to read them? Any tire shop is able to do this? or i need to go to a specific one? or ask if they have a specific x?

 

Yes, to use TIS Techstream to input new sensor IDs, you need to know the IDs beforehand.

If the modules are physically viewable, the ID is printed on them:



If not, you can use a TPMS reader, like the

I actually have a friend that has one... just like that.. i just remembered.. will go do it today..

 

On our Toyota models, it just reads.

Unfortunately, you would need both, if the IDs are not known beforehand.

The Quickset is like the TIS Techstream, in that it only programs the ECU.

TS401 working. I bought one two years ago for my wife's 2010 Camry, worked great to read the sensors in the winter wheels that I bought. When it came to reading the sensors in the second set of wheels I bought for the 16 Tacoma (Take off factory 2016 Limited wheel, tires and sensors), it was a no go. I downloaded the new Maxi-Link II v1.04 software to update to the new TS401 software version 2.67 .bin and .aut files. The result?....still no option for the 16 Tacoma, AND it will no longer work on the Camry. Works fine on a BMW. Three calls to Autel tech support has resulted in the call center emailing the development engineers questioning issues with the Toyota software. They will get back to me when they have some information. End of story, I have an appointment at the dealer to get the second set of wheels scanned so I can enter the info in my quickset.
