So today after waking up at 4am and working a 5-12 shift, i tried to put my head unit in.....and let me say, whatever steps that are missing from the write ups, are the most crucial. After removing the factory HU I began looking at the Pioneer HU and noticed that there was only one place to plug one of those clip things with all the wires into, and the factory had 3!!

After working on that for something to the tune of 5 hours, i decided to give up.

It was just all so confusing and for anyone out there its not just a un-plug, plug-in deal, its a lot more confusing.

The trucks going to bestbuy on wednesday to get it installed properly.

    Fail.

you just gotta splice the wires together, they're color coded.

mmm i dont think so? Im not a total noob if thats what you were getting at.

I just didnt know what to do, there were three connectors comming from the factory unit and only one place to plug a new one into the pioneer unit. none of the colors matched up.

factory: White, white/brown stripe, red, red/white stripe, green, green/white stripe, blue/white stripe, and i think two more.

the pioneer didnt have any of these.

you do have the wiring kit that plugs in to the factory harness, and not just the harness that came with the pioneer, right?

    Nothing at the moment
I think you need the wiring harness for the truck. It will match the plugs t your truck, and you have to splice the ends of the wires on the wiring harness to the ends of the wires that plug into the back of the new head unit.

    hmmmm...?

Ya i think i have the plug that goes into the pioneer HU, but you have to get ANOTHER harness/plug thing to match them up?

Still dont get how you go from 3 plugs, to just 1 in the pioneer.

sounds like your missing the piece that makes the install easy, there are kits that plug into the factory harness that say on the indivigual wires what corisponding wire to splice into on the pioneer clip. making it so easy you dont even have to be in the truck to do it

Your problem is that you don't have a wiring harness to go between the truck and the head unit. It will make the install 100% plug and play.

I would highly recommend NOT taking your truck to Best Buy.
