Not fully, no. It was an amazing rack when I had it on my Subaru wagon, almost like the rack was specifically made for that vehicle, but not as convenient as it is on the Tacoma. Still is way better than taking the wheels off and getting the bikes up on the roof all the time. I'm 6'2" and thing that's a hassle, and can't imagine how much it would suck for someone shorter.

There are some advantages to having them on the roof though. They won't get destroyed if you get rear-ended, but then there's the people who have their bikes on the roof and forget they're up there and try to pull into their garage and...liek I said, pros and cons to both!

is there a fork mount that will receive a thru-axle as well as a skewer? I have a couple of each type of bike and would like the flexibility.

    thanks,

    Yeah I saw that....
Interestingly the info says "Works with all 9mm QR, 15 thru axle and 20mm thru axle fork". I think they mean they have a specific mount for each, not one that works "with all".

I bet there is a way to fab an adapter so that a QR could be mounted up in the 15mm mount.

EDIT: Yep, I called them..its a different mount for each type. Nothing universal.

Correct. I have seen info on sleeves to fit 9mm on the webz somewhere ... maybe mtbr.com. Maybe some 3/8" poly tubing would work. I think Delta has a similar bracket that comes with adaptor but may not work with all kinds of forks (the inner dropout surface, not related to axle diameter).

I didn't like how far the front wheel would extend down below the bumper.

Hey, I found this all in one fork mount. Looks like this will do the trick for me!

Why did you pick hull-a-port kayak racks?

I haven't decided which racking system I want to go with yet, for now here is my go to solution for the MTB.

I was going to buy a set of rail mounts for my bike, but the verticle support post on my Thule rack make great tie down points for securing my bike.

If you start at the first post of this thread and scroll through the pages, there are quite a few solutions.

I'm looking for a wheel-on way to get a 29er MTB in the bed too.... I have a hitch mount for when I have to carry two bikes but that's not too often...
