My engine light came on the other day, so I checked it out. P0301 - cylinder #1 misfire. I reset it, and it hasn't came back in the last 15 miles.

So I'm thinking about replacing the plugs and wires. Anyone have recommendations on what brand and specs to get for this replacement? Use NGK?

only NGK. and I think the OE NGKs were the V-Power. any autoparts store can get these for you. but the wires need to be premiums form either the dealer or NAPA.

I just get my plugs from the dealer

They are as cheap as anyplace else and I am most likely picking other parts up.

Did you disconnect your battery to reset the code? Because if so, it can take the ECU several hours of driving time before it reads the code again (has to go through a full cycle or something), I've learned this the hard way once or twice lol.

The code has not come back in the last 300+ miles. However, I've noticed for quite a while that the truck has a slight skip/miss when I first start it but then it evens out a little as it gets warm. Also a slight miss under full throttle around 3500 rpms.

Are NGK wires considered good? MGK?

NGK or Denso wires and plugs. Make sure plugs are dual electrode. I usually just get them from the dealer. Wires too. If you're over 150k, I'd recommend replacing the wires while you're there.

yes, ngk wires are good. there are a couple worldpac warehouses around your are that you can get them from if anything for around 55 bucks. probably can only get them from an advance auto parts if you go that route though.,

Sorry guys, I meant "MSD" not "MGK".... Don't know what my mind was thinking. Maybe I was thinking of the rapper.

I will do these things along with cleaning the MAF when I get the time. Thanks for your guys' input.
