I ordered my TRD on February 8 and did not get it until April 8. Sometimes you have to wait for a good thing!

I've been checking cars.com constantly for the past 4-6 months or so I rarely see the configuration I ordered (SR 4x4 I-4 auto). When I do see one the dealerships always tell me it's already been sold

If that were true than there wouldn't be a "build" option on the Toyota website. Any car company that won't let you order a vehicle with the specific options that you want from the factory isn't worth doing business with. I asked about placing a specific order when I was at the dealership the other day and they said it was no problem.

The "build" option doesnt actually allow you to build a custom truck to your liking. Go ahead and try to put a manual transmission on a double cab with a long bed, cant be done because they dont want to "build" them like that. Have you noticed after you "build" a truck on their site it brings you to a page that shows where you can find that truck within a dealers inventory. If you could actually build a tacoma I already would have ordered a double cab long bed with a manual trans and hey while were talking fantasies I'd put leather in it too. When you place an order with a dealer they just do their best to find the truck that you want within trucks that are already being built, they dont send a custom order off to toyota.

I placed an order for a TRD OffRoad DoubleCab in Quicksand w a 6 speed manual April 28th. It was delivered to a dealership two hours away from me from the factory within 6 weeks. I just picked it up two days ago. The key is to get hold of the right salesman / dealership. I went thru Toyota West (Dean) in Columbus, Ohio. They took $2500 off of sticker too. He's the man to go to if you don't mind traveling. I know one guy flew in from San Diego to get a Tacoma from him...here's mine. So happy!!image.jpg

Yes they will send an order off. If they can find a truck in their transfer inventory that meets the requirements you have laid out they will transfer it. If not, however, you can build a truck on the Toyota website and have it ordered according to the build you lay out. If you want something that the company doesn't actually build that's your problem. If you want X transmission with Y body configuration and the company doesn't build the truck that way, tuff shit. You also can't get a Big Mac with 5 beef patties or an X-Box console with a soft drink vending machine attached.

I was told 5 weeks. I saw one on a lot 40 minutes from my dealer so I asked them to do a trade for it. I was told it wasn't available. I said it was because I checked for myself. I had that truck 3 days later. It's exactly what I wanted and its awesome btw.

I didn't order, but I wanted a magnetic gray, 2wd Limited and they had transfer it from another dealer. Hell, it still took almost 2 weeks! On the lot they had 2 Limiteds in my color choice, but they were 4wd.

I couldn't imagine waiting as long as some of you guys...I'm impatient...one of my few flaws! :) ;)

Mine took around six weeks to be delivered. But in my case the wait paid off. They had quoted me for truck with fewer options but when mine came in it had the alloy wheels and the SR5 option. Around $1500 to $2000 more in options for the quoted price.

Nice. I'm hoping my wait is closer to 6 weeks.
