Truck in drive, foot on the brake, I hear a very noticeable glug glug glug sound from the front of the truck. I'm guessing the motor but possibly the trans? I can't hear it outside the truck, only when sitting inside. If I shift to park or neutral or give it gas the sound goes away. It's duller than a tapping sound. Not metallic. I also thought possible exhaust leak but I figure that wouldn't go away with throttle.
T-belt, water pump, idler pulley below a/c comp, timing belt idlers, timing belt tensioner, and drive belts are all new. I know my a/c pulley bearing has a lot of play and spins really rough. Sound was present before all the new parts but became louder today after I sprayed half a can of throttle body cleaner through the throttle body (still on truck) to clear up a rough idle issue, which it did.
Any ideas where I should begin?

    02 3.4 auto trans 4x4 162k on the odometer.

The first step is convincing the truck to admit it has a problem and is powerless over it.

It's difficult to even no where to start without actually hearing it. So you only hear it from the cab of the truck? Try running the truck and listen under the hood and rev the engine a little and listen.

Other than that, check your coolant level. Almost sounds like something to do with coolant level, radiator, and heater core.

it very much could be youre running low on tranny fluid. the pump and torque converter are constantly running so long as the engine is. if not, it could also just be your muffler or engine with a low rumbling sound when idling low. or you have water in your muffler.

hows your coolant temperature? i doubt it would be boiling while idling, but it's still a posibility

When you say "gluggluglug...", do you mean it sounds like a gurgling water-like sound? Because if so, I had that exact same issue with my 2013 Scion tC several months ago, before I traded it in on my current Tacoma.

I never did figure out what it was, but occasionally when I'd come to a stop, I'd hear this very audible "gurgling" noise from the engine bay, almost like water boiling (no, the car was definitely not overheating).

Anyway, here's a bump for ya, I'm subbed out of curiosity because I never did get that looked at. Despite the sound, it drove fine every day for months before I traded it in.

Thanks everyone. Coolant temp sits about mid point on the gauge and trans fluid level is good.

About the low idling, my truck idles around 500-600 rpm when it's up to temp and in drive. Maybe I should look into that? I suppose I could buy a new IAC valve and see if that fixes it.

can we get a video/sound clip? right now were just going off our perceptions of a "glug glug glug sound"

I don't have an auto taco, but most cars idle around 600 when in drive.
